The autism spectrum ranges from mild (ADHD+) to severe (non-verbal). Autism has many medical co-morbidities that are treatable, which improves symptoms and quality of life.
Each child diagnosed is a unique puzzle with many variables. One child's symptomatology may be completely different from the next. Likewise, their clinical findings are often completely different, with one suffering from Celiac disease and PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorder Associated with Streptococcus), while another may have biotoxin illness and mast cell activation. The good news is, you and your child do not have to live with the debilitating symptoms that we call autism. Autism cannot be "cured," but in most cases, it can be improved to the point where the child grows up to lead a mostly normal life, including having a career and a family. This is especially true if your child currently has speech. However, even the most severe cases can improve.
